Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company was formed by Forrest Gump and named after himself and his best friend, Benjamin Buford “Bubba” Blue. Keeping his promise to Bubba made in ‘Nam, Forrest buys a shrimp boat and takes up shrimping; he names the boat Jenny. Remarkably, Lt. Dan finds his way down to Alabama to become Forrest’s first mate on the shrimp boat. They are not especially successful until a freak hurricane strikes the Gulf Coast, destroying all shrimping boats, save one—Forrest’s. After that, as Forrest tells us, “Shrimping was easy.” He and Dan become rich, naming their company Bubba Gump Shrimp; Forrest and Lt. Dan are featured on the front of Fortune magazine.
