USCSS Nostromo Crew

Alien features a spaceship, Nostromo, returning to Earth after a successful voyage into space, hauling a load of 20 million tons of valuable ore in a huge secondary vehicle/refinery attached to the main spacecraft. Nostromo is occupied by seven crew members, each of whom has a specific function in running or supervising the mission, which is to land the ship and its cargo safely on Earth. But things do not go exactly as planned. As Nostromo is nearing its destination, a signal is received from an unknown origin that awakens the crew from their stasis, which they exit in an unspecified period of time.

The ship had an onboard artificial intelligence computer, “Mother” which communicated with the crew through the intercom system or a special interface room only accessible to officer at the top of the chain of command. Mother protects the crew and employs them, but she also betrays them. She is an extension of the Company, and the Company has informed her that the Nostromo’s crew is expendable.

When the signal arrives from LV-426, Parker complains that the Nostromo isn’t a rescue ship and demands more of a stake in the operation.

After a discussion, with which not all agree, they go along with Science Officer Ash’s recommendation, and three of them—Navigator Lambert, Captain Dallas, and Executive Officer Kane are dispatched to explore the origin of the signal.

Capt. Dallas’s rescue team discovers a bizarre pod field, but things get even stranger when a face-hugging creature bursts out of a pod and attaches itself to Kane. Over the objections of Ripley, science officer Ash lets Kane back on the ship. The acid-blooded incubus detaches itself from an apparently recovered Kane, but an alien erupts from Kane’s stomach and escapes. The alien starts stalking the humans, pitting Dallas and his crew against a malevolent killing machine that also has a protector in the nefarious Company.

Soon Lambert and Parker are also killed, and Ripley manages to get into the shuttle, with the cat, but she discovers that the Alien is there, hiding. After a struggle, she puts on her space suit and separates from Nostromo, which explodes into space. The creature is in the shuttle, but Ripley manages to eject it, and when it tries to crawl back in through one of the exits, she blasts it into space.

Ripley then communicates with the Earth base, relays what has occurred, and places herself and the cat in a stasis cell to await six weeks, hoping to be picked up when they come close to the horizon border. Ripley: Final report of the commercial starship Nostromo, third officer reporting. The other members of the crew, Kane, Lambert, Parker, Brett, Ash and Captain Dallas, are dead. Cargo and ship destroyed. I should reach the frontier in about six weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off.
